Phones with Android 9.0 Update – Are You Ready?

In the previous article, we introduced the whole new Android 9.0 system for you and the new features. This new Android system is coming for smartphones starting from 2018 to 2019. For some of the users who already have Google Phones, they surely get the update.

But what about the others? There are some brands who expected to have this update sometime in 2019. But some of them already have it in this very January. Of course, not all types of phones can get this Pie update.

With all its interesting features such as Adaptive Actions, Battery, the Informative Dashboard, and more, this version of android surely can be really helpful. Especially the HDR capabilities and camera that can make your phone more improved for entertainment purposes.

Why ain’t getting an update?

Some of you may wonder, “why my phone isn’t getting an updated version of Android?”. Well, we want to give two main answers to this. First one is because the manufacturer thinks that updating all their devices is not worth it. 


If a manufacturers release six or more different kinds of model, do they want to support all of them? Of course not.

Usually, they will announce the new devices that have one selling point “the OS is upgradable to...”. It’s more valuable than updating the older devices that already got replaces by new ones.

The second reason is because the new version of an operating system always brings a higher requirement in order to run them properly. There would be a problem if you force a certain Os to unsupported devices.

The Phones

In this article, we want to tell you about the brands such as Google Pixel, Sony, Huawei, Samsung, and LG  phones that get this “delicious” update for now and later. Let’s hope that the other brands will also receive it in the future. For now, let’s talk about the Google Pixel phones first, which prioritized to get the update first.

Google Pixel

The phones that are getting this Android 9.0 Pie update are Gooogle Pixel and Google Pixel 2, their XL versions also get it as well. The 6-inch display with 2880X1440 screen, pOLED looks so great with this android version.

The camera of Pixel 2 XL, which is 12,2 MP rear camera will also greatly supported. The Pie will also support the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 that can surpass any emulator requirements in both Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL. Playing games and watching movies will be much better with HDR video and audio support.

This android version is also very important for battery saving. Because of the battery capacity that lower than the others, Pixel phone users can at least use their phone longer because of the adaptive battery feature.

For Google Nexus phones, there isn’t any news about the Pie future update.

Sony

The Sony phones that receive this latest version of Android is Sony Experia XZ2, Compact and Premium Version. It received the update in last October 2018 so the users may update to higher version now if they want it. Other than that, the other devices are Sony Experia XZ1, both original and Compact version. 


The battery feature should be a great help, especially when combined with quick charge feature in Sony Experia XZ2. The stereo S-Force speakers also can be enhanced with the high-quality audio feature from Pie.

For the users of Sony Experia XA2, they will receive the future update of Pie version in March 2019. So, the users can wait for about two months from now to be able to update their phones to the higher version.

Samsung

There are so many phones that upgradeable to the latest version of Android. In fact, Samsung has the most number of supported phones. Starting from the Samsung Note 9, it will receive an update in this January. Other than that, for the Samsung S versions, there are Samsung S 8 and S 9 that will have the update in January and March 2019. For you, the owners of Note 8, make sure to look for an update in February 2019.

Other than those, there are Samsung A versions and J version. For the Samsung 6 up to Samsung A 9, there will be an Android 9 update months after now, April 2019 to be specific. The J versions, starting from J2 to J8 will receive it in April, May, and June of 2019.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, Tab A, and Tab S4 will receive it on April 2019 (S4), and late October 2019, which is the last date of Pie update for Samsung phones.

LG Phone

The LG Phones only have some devices that receive an update. In fact, there are only two of them. First one is LG G7 One, getting an update in November 2019. In the first quarter of 2019, there’s also LG G7 ThinkQ that expected to get an update.

Huawei

The world eye-catching Huawei P20 and P20 Pro already got the updated version on December 18th of 2018. Other than P20, Huawei Mate 10 and 10 Pro also received it on the same date as them. The camera of P20 Pro, which already looks so great can even better with Android 9.0 update.
